Beall Listed: Not on the original Beall list. However, this journal's publisher has been added by the curator of an updated Beall list (author unknown).

Scopus Discontinued List: No.

Frequency: 4 times a year. About 12 papers an issue.

Template: There are 2 templates. One for submission, one for publication.

Style: APA 7 according to their acceptance letters.

Copyright: Yes. Need to sign and upload at submission.

Similarity threshold: Acceptance letters say the Turnitin must be no higher than 10%.

Submission process: Scholar One system. Easy to use but very detailed. The journal also wants the authors to suggest experts for review and you will be asked for a cover letter later in the submission. Detail the importance of your paper in it.

Journal Web Page Comments:

Sample Papers:

Information system for public relations via mobile application usingin-depth user experience according to education experts

Sengdavanh Jularlark Pakpasak Technical College, Laos PDR, Chanthabouly, Vientiane,

Pinanta Chatwattana, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok,

Pallop Piriyasurawong, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok,

 Wongsawang, Bangsue, Bangkok 10800, Thailand

AJR comments: The template used in the submission is very different from the template for your paper's publication. This includes font styles, their sizes and the table data. The instructions for these 2 templates are also different from the author guidelines on the website. My suggestion is to follow the template.

Also, submission confirmation emails come from:

Dr. Ebru Elci, Beytepe University, Istanbul, Turkey

Update from submission/acceptance process:

This journal is an author's nightmare. After acceptance the author receives a 17 step list of things they must do to receive an acceptance letter. At step 11 they must pay the APC of 650 Euro. (Note: After 2 requests for the 'acceptance letter' after payment, none is ever sent.-This is the same with their sister journal CJES)

After everything is done and the APC is paid, the revision is uploaded to their ScholarOne system. Shortly thereafter you receive yet another email and yet another list of difficult and highly abnormal things that the authors must do. However, the copy editor Daniel is a reasonable man, and eventually, your paper appears online.

In my opinion 700 Euro to get a paper published with no acceptance letter for a Q3 journal is a steep price to pay. There are other better options for a discerning author.

Good luck!

Similarity threshold: Both CJES and its sister journal WJET  state the maximum Turnitin score is 10%.

Submission process: Scholar One system. Easy to use but very detailed.

Journal Web Page Comments: Expect multiple emails after acceptance with numerous additional steps that must be completed.

Sample Papers:

AJR comments:

-Please read all the comments about this journal on the SJR CJES portal.

-In the most recent issue there were 32 papers.

-Professional journal with lots of steps before being published.

-If your paper is going to be accepted, you will find out within 5-6 weeks after submission. In the email you will also receive the following 16 additional steps. Please note the APC is 550 Euro and you MUST provide a "English Proofreading Certificate" from their Turkish TAEG friends, which I might add is extremely professional and inexpensive at about 50 Euro for 6,000 words. CJES is also strict about the authors "endorsing" their journal in Publon.

Also note that like their sister publication WJET, they promise the authors an acceptance letter/certificate after payment. Of course, after multiple emails over multiple months none is received and emails go unanswered. Also expect confusion about your payment status, with one email coming one week saying you paid and another the next week saying you didn't (from the same person and email). Basically, these people disappear into the wind after you pay.

20 Nigerians benefit from British workshop on academic writing

About 20 Nigerians have benefited from the joint British Academy and Global Challenges Research Fund workshop on academic writing and publishing.

The three-day capacity workshop by the BAGCRF was held at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos State.

It was with the theme: ”Academic Writing and Publishing Workshop: Training and Mentorship for Practice-Based Researches in Design, Visuals and Performing Arts.”

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that beneficiaries of the capacity building workshop, which started on November 10 and ended November 12, were drawn from the academia and creative industry practitioners.

The co-partner of the workshop, GCRF is an international agency that supports cutting edge research to address challenges faced by developing countries.

It is part of the UK’s Official Development Assistance and managed by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

The capacity workshop was held in three countries in Africa, namely: Mauritius, South Africa and Nigeria.

Facilitators of the workshop were the General Manager, National Theatre, Prof. Sunday Adodo; Prof. Osakue Omoera; Prof. Charles Nwadgwe; and Dr. Kene Igweone from the UK and others around the world.

Speaking on the essence of the workshop, Adodo said it was the drive of the National Theatre management to reposition the creative industry on ways to achieve a knowledge-based workforce.

He said: “The capacity workshop is meant to enhance a broad spectrum of knowledge.

“It is a mentorship drive designed on a practice-based knowledge in designs, visuals for the creative sector of the economy.

“What we have gained here is that we have learnt on how to get funding to expand our researches and how to get sponsorships for the post-doctoral thesis.

“We also learnt the more effective way of communicating with our audience.

“We have been given tools to use to develop and horn our skills in the creative sector.

“We in the academics are the ones to impact knowledge in the practitioners, so we need to be more adept in knowledge about the new development around the world.

“Nigeria had not much of practice-based research, which we want to make possible.”

Ghostwriters Come out of the Shadows

When Penguin Random House announced in July that it would be publishing a memoir by Prince Harry, there was one name that was, conspicuously and appropriately, left off the press release. The man channeling the Duke of Sussex’s voice for the book, J.R. Moehringer, was nowhere to be found among the details the publisher released. But those in the industry know that Moehringer, one of the highest-profile ghostwriters working, will be an essential component in the royal’s book—even if his name never appears on the final product.

Ghostwriting, or “collaborating” as it’s now called, is nothing new. For as long as celebrities have been writing books, others have quietly helped them do it. It’s highly specialized work that requires a blend of skills; industry sources say the best collaborators are equal parts editor, reporter, writer, mimic, and shrink. And in today’s industry, where publishers are more and more reliant on nonfiction projects by authors with significant platforms, good collaborators are in higher demand than ever. It’s also the kind of work, very handsomely paid at the high end, which is appealing to a growing population: writers, journalists, and editors.
