Important Announcement: Strategic Transition to an Elite Publication Model (2027)

 2026-04-21

As the Ianna Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies (IJIS) continues to evolve as a premier destination for global scholarship, the Editorial Board is pleased to announce a major strategic shift in our publication model, effective for all publications targeted for Volume 9, Issue 1 (January 2027) and beyond.

Notice on Current Submissions: Please be advised that these changes apply to all manuscripts currently under consideration, in the peer-review pipeline, or awaiting production for the 2027 cycle. Acceptance into the journal will be governed by the new exclusivity caps and revised APC rates.

Key Strategic Changes

1. Significant Reduction in Publication Volume To ensure the highest level of editorial rigour and to maximise the visibility of every published work, we are reducing our publication volume by over 51%.

  • Issue-Level Cap: We are moving from a maximum of 90 articles per issue to a strict cap of 44 articles.

  • Annual Ceiling: Our total annual output is now capped at 88 elite articles per year (down from 180). This reduction ensures that only the most impactful research clears our selection process, directly supporting our trajectory back to a Q1 ranking.

2. Article Processing Charge (APC) Adjustment To support this more intensive editorial process, the APC is being adjusted. This move represents a 34% adjustment in USD, allowing for enhanced technical copyediting, metadata management, and permanent digital archiving.

  • New APC£1,650 / $2,000 (net of all bank charges).

  • Transparency: This single fee remains our sole revenue source, ensuring the journal remains free of advertisements and institutional bias.

3. Enhanced Originality and AI Policy In line with global standards (COPE and Elsevier), we are moving to a model of Human Accountability.

  • We have replaced rigid AI detection scores with a Mandatory Disclosure policy.

  • Authors bear full legal and ethical responsibility for the accuracy of their content.

  • Our strict 20% similarity threshold for plagiarism remains in force to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

Our Vision for the Future

These changes represent a bold investment in the prestige of your research. By choosing to publish with Ianna, you are joining an exclusive cohort of scholars in a journal that prioritises quality over quantity.

OLDER JOURNAL INSTRUCTIONS:
An article processing charge of £1075 applies to accepted manuscripts. There is no submission fee. APC is the journal’s only source of revenue. IJIS does not accept paid advertisements on its website. Please note that the APC does not include bank charges or any other applicable fees.  A complete APC is £1075, payable to the journal's account.  The APC in dollars is $1490. Note that these charges do not include bank fees.

This 14% acceptance rate underscores our commitment to rigorous editorial standards despite a significant surge in submissions. Since 2019, the journal has published 300 articles, reflecting steady growth and increasing influence over the past eight years (2019–2026). No special issues or supplementary articles are scheduled for the 2026 calendar year. The next regular issue (Volume 8, Issue 2) is slated for release between 1 and 10 June 2026.
