JDS publishes original research on issues in distribution economics and distribution management. JDS is an international peer-reviewed journal, which is devoted to contemporary issues in distribution economics, logistics & SCM, distribution information technology, distribution innovation, distribution strategy & competitiveness, distribution channel management, consumer shopping behavior, CRM, wholesaling & retailing, and social issues in distribution.


Topics of interest (but are not limited to): Research topics covered by the journal are focused on, but not limited to, distribution science, distribution management, distribution economics, logistics, SCM, distribution information technology, innovation in distribution, strategy and competitiveness of distribution channels, market development, materials and acquisition management, consumer shopping behavior, CRM, retail information management, manufacturing-wholesaling-retailing channel, social issues in distribution.

Authors are encouraged to include terminology related to distribution, such as distribution, retailing, wholesale, shops/outlets, online shopping, offline shopping, logistics, physical distribution, and delivery service, in the abstract, main body, and keywords. Authors should include numerous other terminology (e.g., private-labels, centralized buying, location strategy, store advertising, e-commerce, product returns, merchandising, balance-of-power, commercial zoning etc.) related to distribution management and retailing throughout the manuscript.


Types of Paper:


Regular Article: This should describe new and/or carefully investigated findings, and research methods should be given in sufficient detail for others to verify the work. Articles should be 5,000 - 7,000 words long to describe and interpret the work clearly. All regular research articles are peer-reviewed by minimum 3 referees.

Short Communication: This short communication is suitable for reporting the results of small investigations or giving details of new models, innovative methods or techniques. The style of main sections doesn’t need to conform to that of full-length papers. Short communications should be usually 2,000 - 4,000 words long. Short communication articles are also peer-reviewed.

Review and Perspective: Submissions of review and perspective covering topics of current interest are welcome and encouraged.

In preparing articles for submission, authors are asked to adhere strictly to the Journal style file and instructions supplied by the publisher to ensure consistency and uniform appearance of the articles. The Journal follows the International System of Units (SI), and the standard UK English spelling. Articles will be fully edited and English corrected to ensure standard English form and expression.

Number illustrations consecutively, i.e. Figure 1, 2, 3, etc, and place the captions underneath the figures. Arrange the numbering of tables as Table 1, 2, 3, etc, and place the captions above the tables. Incorporate both figures and tables within the body of the text.

Maximum length of articles should be six (6) pages, including the title page, and sized A4 (210mm x 297mm). Every submitted article of six (6) or fewer pages will attract a fee of $A800. Each extra page will attract an additional levy of $A150. Australian residents must also add GST of 10%. Fees are based on cost recovery for editorial and production. Included within the cost structure is full editing, English-language revision and corrections to final formatting as required.

Font size for body text is Times New Roman 10pt with single line spacing (6 lines per inch). Arrange the article, including text, tables, figures (.jpg preferred), formulae, etc, in one column, with full justification of text in single-line spacing, and one-line spacing between paragraphs.

Pages format:

Type the manuscript on A4 size white bond paper, 8-1/2×11 inches (21.6×27 cm) with margins of at least 1.5 inches (4 cm). Type on one side of the paper only double spacing every page. Begin each of the following section on separate page and in the following order: title page, abstract, introduction, materials / subjects / patients and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgements, references, tables and figures (each on a separate page) and legends. Number pages consecutively, beginning with the title page. Type the page number in the upper right-hand corner of each page.

Manuscript structure

Each manuscript component should begin on a new page in the following sequence:  Title page, Abstract with Keywords, Main Text, Acknowledgments, References, Tables, and Figures.

Title Page

The title page of the manuscript should include: (1) concise and informative title (less than 200 characters); (2) complete by line, with first, middle initial and last name of each author up to ten authors may be cited; (3) complete affiliation for each author, with the name of department (s) and institution (s) to which the work should be attributed; (4) disclaimer, if any; (5) name, address and telephone number and email address (necessary) of one author responsible for correspondence about the manuscript; (6) name and address of author to whom reprint request should be directed, or statement that reprints are not available from the author; (7) source(s) of support in the form of grants equipment, drugs, or all of these; (8) word count.
